Representatives of Thailand’s VET system undertook a five-day study tour to Germany in order to learn about various aspects of dual VET. VET research as a focal point of interest led the delegation to BIBB.
Greater involvement of business in vocational education and training in Thailand was the central theme of the "Industry 4.0 and the impact of VET" event organised by the BIBB and DIDACTA Association at the Worlddidac Asia 2017 in Bangkok.

At the Thai-German TVET Forum hosted in Bangkok on 3 August 2018, Professor Hubert Ertl explained to representatives from trade and industry and from the field of policy making why company-based training is a worthwhile investment for the firms which provide it.
“Digital media in VET” roadshow goes international
The nationally successful “Digital media in VET” roadshow has now also made its international debut. BIBB and Asia-based VET stakeholders presented examples of good practice at the specialist trade fair „Worlddidac Asia“ in Bangkok.
Ambassador Dhiravat Bhumichitr and BIBB Director of Research Ertl exchanged views on previous and future collaborations. Initiatives of the embassy, topics in German vocational education and training as well as the services provided by iMOVE were also discussed.
Vocational education and training for "Thailand 4.0"
The Thai government are prioritising vocational education and training in their “Thailand 4.0” strategy in support of the economic and social modernization of the country. At the “TVET for Thailand 4.0” conference, the BIBB presented findings on the situation relating to IT occupations in Germany.
From 19 to 22 October, educational experts met for the 2016 ISMTEC in Bangkok, Thailand. The theme of this year’s event was “Preparing a Workforce for the Future”. In her keynote speech, Birgit Thomann provided an insight into opportunities and prospects in technical occupational fields in Germany.
Vocational education and training cooperation with Thailand extended
In order to expand regional air transport, Thailand requires skilled workers. The cooperation agreement between BIBB and its Thai partner institutes OVEC and TPQI has been extended with the objective of helping to cover the requirement for skilled workers in the field of aircraft maintenance.
