Sub-projects

The "Polarisation 4.0" project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), forms the basis for a series of sub-projects that aim to explore the diverse and multi-faceted relationships between technology, society and people from a variety of thematic focuses and perspectives. The argumentative basis is formed by the research questions and hypotheses developed from the theory interviews conducted in 2019.

Thematically, the projects address issues such as the pace of technological change, technology-induced inequalities in access to and within the labour market, new forms of work and flexibilisation, managing technological change, the value of skills, participation in training, digitalisation and human comparative advantage. The sub-projects take different perspectives, such as those of individual workers, enterprises and organisations. Sometimes even macro-economic considerations are taken into account. The list below provides a brief summary.

The individual sub-projects have different durations within the overall project period (2016-2022) and are supervised by different BIBB staff members.
