Alliance for VET in Latin America and the Caribbean
Vocational training institutions from Latin America and the Caribbean have joined forces to form the Alliance for VET in Latin America and the Caribbean. Their aim is to work together to improve the quality and spread of dual training programs. As a reference institution, BIBB supports the Alliance by providing technical support and advice.

The Alliance for VET in Latin America and the Caribbean (Alianza para la formación dual en América Latina y el Caribe) was founded in 2021, in part at the initiative of BIBB, as a networking platform for peer and policy learning and innovation transfer. Its members are leading vocational training institutions from Latin America and the Caribbean. The majority of the institutions cover the largest share of public vocational training provision in their countries.
With the Alliance, the member organizations want to
- promote cooperation between the leading institutions for VET in Latin America and the Caribbean,
- form cooperative communities to consolidate dual systems,
- analyze national, regional and sectoral examples of best practice in the participating countries,
- innovate models of cooperation between the productive sector and educational institutions, and
- enable the mobility of the individual actors in the dual system.
The Alliance is steered by a coordination group consisting of the respective one-year presidency (“chair country”), BIBB (reference institution) and ILO/Cinterfor (technical secretariat at the Inter-American Centre of the International Labour Organization).
