The BIBB is robustly pursuing its Open Access Policy by continuing to expand academic research services in the field of vocational education and training and VET research. BIBB has made a “VET Repository” available online with immediate effect.
Since 2016, the BIBB has been involved as a transfer partner for vocational education and training in developing the content of the central information office for OER- OERinfo. Following the successful initial funding phase, the BMBF has decided to continue with a second, two-year funding phase.
The BIBB will be rigorously adhering to the "Open Access Model". This means that, from 2018 onwards, all BIBB publications will be made available on the institute's website for download free of charge in citation-friendly PDF format ("gold open access").
The OER Festival can be seen as the culmination to a very active and successful year in all aspects relating to Open Educational Resources in German-speaking countries. Its purpose was to promote exchange within the community and to further enhance the visibility of the OER community.
As part of the general meeting in November 2017, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training was admitted as an associate member of the Leibniz Research Alliance Science 2.0.
The 2nd UNESCO World Open Educational Resources (OER) Congress took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 18 to 20 September 2017. Staff from OERinfo, the central information platform for OER across all educational sectors in Germany, joined the German delegation.
