Successful study visit at BIBB

Vietnamese study group from BIBB partner institute NIVT visits Bonn

During a seven-day study visit in Bonn, a Vietnamese study group from the National Institute for Vocational Education and Training (NIVT) worked with BIBB experts on a wide range of topics in the field of vocational education and training. This visit is part of a long-standing and fruitful cooperation between the two partners.

Based on a trilateral cooperation agreement between the German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the National Institute for Vocational Education and Training (NIVT), the study visit of NIVT researchers and GIZ staff to the BIBB in Bonn took place from 9 to17 October 2017.

During their stay at BIBB, the Vietnamese study group and BIBB researchers covered important topics such as vocational education and training reporting, organizational development, research work and quality assurance. BIBB staff members presented useful best practice examples from the above-mentioned areas.

The Vietnamese study group was particularly interested in the development of vocational education and training reporting instruments, analyses on training market developments, the creation of a research database and compilation of a vocational education and training glossary. The presentations and coaching provided by BIBB advisors contributed to the improvement of the first draft of the Vietnam TVET Report 2016. According to BIBB experts “one of the key success factors of vocational education and training reporting is close cooperation between NIVT and other relevant stakeholders functioning as co-authors of the report”. In Germany, the responsibility of all relevant stakeholders in the development of the annual VET Data Report is stipulated in the Vocational Training Act. The guests from Vietnam also gained insight into various research projects currently conducted at BIBB: Supply and demand in the training place market, costs and benefits of vocational education and training, and the consequences of digitalization and Industry 4.0.

A tour of the inter-company training center by the IHK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg was also part of the study visit. The concept of inter-company training centres was of particular interest to the Vietnamese delegation due to the Vietnamese-German “Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam” initiative that also champions inter-company training centres in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese delegation has received a lot of important advice from their German colleagues that will be shared with NIVT management and staff and will eventually be used to improve the quality of the Vietnam TVET Report 2016.
