Cooperation with Australian partner institution
The BIBB and its Australian partner institution "National Centre for Vocational Education Research" (NCVER) will co-operate more closely in the future. On the occasion of the two-day visit by Dr. Craig Fowler, head of the partner institute, a intensified collaboration was agreed upon.
The focus of the co-operation will lie on research assessing costs and benefits of vocational education and training and processing data for different target groups. Dr. Craig Fowler stressed that the cooperation between the two important institutes for vocational education and training, BIBB and NCVER, is a top priority. According to Dr. Craig Fowler, working together on important questions regarding vocational education and training fosters mutual learning and getting a new perspective on one's own education system.
The NCVER and the BIBB signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in July 2000. In the document both parties declare the intention
- of regularly exchanging information on issues in the field of vocational education and training. This information includes publications, statistical data and information material.
- In addition, the opportunities for co-operation between scientists from both institutions will be assessed.
- The MoU also states the intention of searching for opportunities for using seminars for the purpose of mutual short visits of employees.
Since the signing of the MoU, the information provided by the NCVER's database VOCEDplus and the BIBB's Literature Database for Vocational Education and Training (LDBB) have been regularly exchanged. This is to ensure that the libraries of both institutes have available the latest literature on vocational education and training of the respective other country.
NCVER is a member in the UNESCO-UNEVOC network.
