Cooperation with Thai partner institutions OVEC and TPQI
The Thai Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC), the Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (TPQI) and BIBB have been working together on VET issues for many years. One focus is the development of occupational standards.
The Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) at the Thai Education Ministry is responsible for issues of apprenticeship and continuing education in Thailand. OVEC and BIBB signed a cooperation agreement in 2003 and established a collaboration on the topics
- social partnership governance and participation in vocational training,
- costs and benefits of dual VET,
- development of occupational, training and examination standards and
- transitions between vocational and academic education.
In April 2014, the Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (TPQI) was taken on as a further partner in the collaboration.
Cooperation OVEC-TPQI-BIBB 2020 - 2023
Since 2020 BIBB, OVEC and TPQI cooperate in the project "Exploration of TVET measures for electroplating in Thailand (SCHOOLPLATE)". In the context of SCHOOLPLATE, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since 2023, BIBB and the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) support the Thai electroplating industry in developing suitable VET measures.
Cooperation OVEC-TPQI-BIBB 2014 - 2018
From 2014-2016 BIBB, OVEC and TPQI have been working together on developing a training regulation for the occupation of mechatronics fitter. This cooperation project supplemented the activities of other German stakeholders in the field of VET. It involved the cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (AHK Thailand) and German providers of education.
From 2016-2018 the cooperation included the development of training regulations for the occupations aircraft mechanic specialising and aircraft electronics technician as well as cooperation in the field of Industry 4.0.
In 2017, the Standard for In-Company Trainers in ASEAN Countries was developed. The standard defines minimum qualifications for in-company trainers in the Mekong region and was developed in cooperation with BIBB, GIZ, the Thai partners, and other Asian partners.
