Cooperation with Dutch partner institution ROA

The Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) in the Netherlands and the BIBB signed a co-operation agreement in February 2014. The co-operation focuses on mutual support in joint research activities on topics regarding vocational education and training.

The Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) in Maastricht was established in 1986 and is a research institute of the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. The research activities aim at improving the understanding of the relationship between education and the labour market. An overarching research topic is the gain and loss of human capital over a life cycle in connection with labour market dynamics.

The ROA and the BIBB signed a co-operation agreement in February 2014. It provides for close co-operation in the field of research. The main emphasis is on questions relating to the costs and benefits of in-company vocational education and training provisions. The research activities focus in particular

  • on the advantage provided by employees who are qualified in the dual system of vocational education and training and who have attained company-specific qualifications.
  • Another field of interest is the relationship between training regulations and the vocational education and training system. This research field specifically focuses on the effects of different curricula on the demand for and provision of apprenticeship placements.

The ROA and the BIBB jointly organised a workshop at the Maastricht University in June 2014.
